How to Steep
Four steps to a crisp, high-altitude Darjeeling green cup — vegetal, smooth and never grassy.
2g tea
per 150ml cup
Water
Water at 82°C (boil kettle and wait 3 minutes). Never use boiling water on green tea.
Measure
2g of whole loose leaf per 150ml cup (yields two steeps per spoonful).
Brew
Steep 3 minutes. Re-steep the same leaves for a 2nd round (+30 seconds).
Enjoy
Strain. Serve hot, or cold brew (2g per 200ml in fridge for 4 hours) for a naturally sweet iced green tea.

Why doesn’t Emerald Leaf taste bitter or grassy?
Grade and temperature. Whole Darjeeling leaf carries natural sweetness that broken bulk leaf loses, and brewing at 82°C keeps the tannins in check. Most bad green tea experiences are boiling water poured over dust.
Is Darjeeling green tea different from Chinese or Japanese green tea?
Yes. Darjeeling green comes from the same high-altitude gardens as the famous black teas, and it shows: crisper and brighter than most Chinese styles, softer and less marine than Japanese ones. It is a distinct leaf worth knowing on its own terms.
How much caffeine does green tea have?
A moderate amount, roughly half a black tea and a quarter of a coffee. Emerald Leaf works from breakfast to late afternoon without the jolt or the crash.
Can I steep Emerald Leaf twice?
Yes, and you should. Whole leaf holds back plenty for a second infusion. Same water temperature, add about thirty seconds. The second cup is nearly as good as the first.
What temperature should green tea be brewed at?
82°C for this leaf, three minutes. Boiling water scalds green tea and creates the bitterness people wrongly blame on the leaf. If your kettle has no setting, boil it and wait three minutes.
Is Emerald Leaf good iced?
Very. Cold brew it, 2g per 200ml, four hours in the fridge. Cold water cannot extract the tannins, so it cannot turn bitter, and the natural sweetness comes forward.
